Scentsy and other money making ideas

January 31, 2010 in Money at Home by Charma Abendroth

Making money from home hasn’t been as easy as I had hoped.  My Scentsy business hasn’t taken off quickly, but is steadily growing.  If you are interested in learning about Scentsy check out my website http:/MamaAbby.scentsy.us or chute me an email.  I haven’t been doing as much ebay  as I have  in the past, and I really need to get going on my coupons.  I will have to look to my sister (aka Queen of the coupons) for some inspiration.

Disneyland 50

January 31, 2010 in Weight Loss by Charma Abendroth

I have created my own weight loss plan and I’m calling it the “Disneyland 50″.  I want to lose 50 pounds between now and  October 10th when I am going to Disneyland with my kids.  Today marks the 2 week point.  I started with the EA Sports Active game for the Wii and joined it’s 30 day challenge, and of  course I’m working toward drinking 8 glasses of water a day and I’m trying to make good choices when eating.  After two weeks I have lost an appropriate 4 pounds and I am feeling fantastic!  Since the 30 day challenge on the Wii has a two days of exercise and one day of rest schedule I will be adding some aerobic/weight training this week.  (Joyce Vedral’s Bottoms Up workout – one of my favorites)  I figure lower body on the first day, upper body on the second day, rest a day, and repeat.  Add to that some crunches daily Monday through Friday.  I have my sister and aunt joining me in weight loss and my 7 year old daughter and husband as my personal cheer squad.

I got mommed!

December 13, 2009 in Organization by Charma Abendroth

What a productive weekend!  It started innocently when I received a Kimberly-Clark gift box from my “real” mom.  If you don’t know…Kimberly-Clark is the manufacturer of a variety of products including Kleenex.  In years past the boxes have contained really cool moisturizing gloves and socks that I have never found in a store.  So I was a bit disappointed in Kimberly-Clark this year because the box did not include my girly products.  So I decided to look them up online and found “get mommed” by Kleenex.  Basically, you can view and choose from a variety of moms and choose one for yourself or take a quick quiz and they recommend someone for you.  Then you get to decide what you want from this virtual mom, such as advice, inspiration, or reminders; she will even call you on your birthday.  It’s not fully functional, you don’t get advice on anything specific, but you can choose whether she communicates via text, email, or phone.  The advice that I have received so far all included a line recommending a specific Kleenex products.  Past that my first email said something along the line of, “If your environment is messy then your world is in chaos.”  This simple line inspired me to fully overhaul my bedroom and I have to say I feel great and refreshed.  My bedroom being on the main floor is usually where I hide the clutter, and since it is out of sight of visitors is never where I start cleaning.  So thank you Veronica (my Kleenex mom), keep up the good work.  :-)  And to my own mom, no worries Veronica is no replacement and as always I love the gift packs!

A Well Educated Person is…

December 9, 2009 in Educated Children by Charma Abendroth

1.  someone who can obtain needed information through knowing how to read well and how to find needed information.

2.  someone who can communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing

3.  someone who has a broad general knowledge base from which to draw as needed.

4.  someone who possesses the math knowledge required for daily life, as well as an awareness, if not a working knowledge, of the intricate bonds between higher math and workings of the universe.

5.  Has a love of learning that will facilitate education throughout their lifetime.

This is not who I was raised to be, but who I desire to become.  Like most parents I want my children to have more than I did, and I believe that a good education is at the top of the list to achieve this goal.
